This series consists of mostly unidentified sketches and drawings of birds, landscapes, and other subjects drawn by Robert E. Peary (401-XPDR-1-1; 401-XPDR-1-2; 401-XPDR-2-1; and 401-XPDR-2-3). In addition, there are drawings made by Peary for the Prang's Prize Competition in Christmas Card Designs (401-XPDR-7-1 through 401-XPDR-7-5). In 1881 Messrs. L. Prang and Company of New York, New York offered $2,000 in prizes for Christmas card designs. Also included in this series is a sketch of a bird by Eivind Astrup, a Norwegian student and athlete who accompanied Peary on the 1891-1892 and 1893-1895 expeditions (401-XPDR-10-1). None of the artworks appear to relate to Peary's polar explorations.

Robert Edwin Peary Sr. (born May 6, 1856, Cresson, Pennsylvania – died February 20, 1920, Washington, D.C.) was an American explorer and United States Navy officer who made several expeditions to the Arctic in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
